The activity concentrations of 238U, 232Th and 40K were determined for urea samples collected from Chittagong Urea Fertilizer Limited (CUFL) and Jamuna Fertilizer Company Limited (JFL) using calibrated high purity germanium (HPGe) detectors. Measurements showed variable concentrations: some below and others above the world average values. No artificial radionuclide 137Cs was found. The mean representative index was below unity, suggesting that the factories are safe for workers and surrounding populations.
