Abstract

This paper describes and simulates the generation of a blue pulse (460nm) using a nonlinear KN (KNbO3) crystal, pumped by femtosecond diode-pumped Cr:LiSAF lasers. The simulation indicates that laser pulses of 860nm wavelength, 200fs duration, 330MHz repetition rate, and 140pJ energy focused in a 3mm KN crystal at 22°C using a 15mm lens produced 42pJ blue pulses of 425fs duration with 30% optical efficiency and 1% total efficiency.
